The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojans volleyball team hosted the Desert Hot Springs Eagles Monday in their 11th league match. Varsity won against the Eagles in three sets (25-12, 25-9, 25-13). Coach Darrell Sterling said the girls came out and played well as a team. The junior varsity won their match in three sets (25-7,25-27,15-8).
Also last night, the Twentynine Palms High School Ladycats volleyball team fought hard but lost to the Indio Rajahs in four sets (25-11, 24-26, 23-
25, 23-25). Coach Missy Bond said the Ladycats were led by seniors Lea Speer (nine kills and two aces) and Gabby Mackall (eight kills, one ace, two blocks and 26 assists). Senior Alaina Thomas and freshman Meleane Taufu both had seven kills. Junior Amanda Mohn had six kills and two ace serves.
In high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School girls’ tennis team will host Banning High School at home. The Twentynine Palms High School girls’ tennis team will host Coachella Valley High School at home. First serve for both matches is at 3:15 p.m.
