HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS

The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojans volleyball team visited the Indio Rajahs in their 10th league match yesterday. Coach Darrell Sterling said varsity won against the Rajahs in three sets. Alexis Hines was the player of the match with her excellent serving by closing out two sets. Sterling said the team is looking forward to CIF playoffs. The Lady Trojans are 9-1 in league, 17-4 overall.
The Yucca Valley junior varsity volleyball team lost in two sets.

The Twentynine Palms High School Ladycats volleyball team defeated the Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles in three sets. Coach Missy Bond said The ’Cats were led by freshman Meleane Taufu with seven kills and two ace serves. The Ladycats are 2-7 in league, 3-16-1 overall.
Junior Riley King had four kills. Senior Gabby Mackall had three kills, two ace serves, and 11 assists. Seniors Lea Speer and Alaina Thomas combined with four kills and five ace serves. The Ladycats will be at home next week playing Indio in Monday, 3:15 for junior varsity and varsity following at 4:30.

In high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School girls’ tennis team will travel away to Thermal to play Coachella Valley High School.
And the Twentynine Palms High School girls’ tennis team will travel away to play Banning High School.
First serve for both teams is at 3:15.
