HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS

In a cross-basin rivalry, the Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojans Volleyball team hosted the Twentynine Palms Wildcats. Yucca Valley varsity played three sets to win the match against their rivals the Wildcats. Coach Darrell Sterling said they played more as a team and Riley Vallo, #3, stood out as an all-around player for this match.    

Twentynine Palms Coach Missy Bond said the Ladycats were led by freshman Meleane Taufa with five kills, one ace serve, one solo, and three assisted blocks.

Senior Lea Speer had three kills and one ace serve. Junior Jhordon Stanley had three kills. Senior Alaina Thomas had two kills and two ace serves. Junior Amanda Mohn had two ace serves and two kills. Senior Gabby Mackall had one ace serve, two block assists, and 12 assists or the night.

The Yucca Valley junior varsity played their best, but lost in two sets.

In high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School girls’ tennis team will travel away to play Cathedral City.

And the Twentynine Palms High School tennis team will travel away to play Desert Mirage High School.

First serve for both teams is at 3:15 p.m.
