The Yucca Valley High School girls varsity tennis team beat Desert Hot Springs 16-2. Coach Cindy Miller said the team is improving with every match. Up next will be Cathedral City on Tuesday at Cathedral City High School. Start time will be 3:15. The team is now 3-1 in league.

In singles, Katie Brattain shut out her opponent, 6-0, 6-0,6-0; Elizabeth Anderson 6-4, 6-1, 6-0; Eden Ricketts 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. Katie is undefeated in league.

In doubles, Mckenzi Monical and Rylie Rohr won, 6-0, 6-1, 6-1; Jade Arnhold and Orion Ricketts won 6-3, 6-1, 6-0; Alex Costa and Gisele Julian 6-1; Cheyenne Crane and Rachelle Hendriguez 6-3.

The Twentynine Palms High School varsity girls’ tennis team traveled to Indio to face the Rajahs on Thursday. The Ladycats came away with a tough win, 10 to 8. The Ladycats are 3-and-0 in league and 5-and-1 overall.

In addition to the Yucca Valley High School Trojan football team hosting Coachella Valley High School at home, the Twentynine Palms High School Wildcat football team will host Banning High School at home. Kick-off for both games is at 7 p.m.

Also today, the Yucca Valley cross-country team will compete in the Woodbridge High School cross-country classic at the Silver Lakes Sports Complex.
