The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojans volleyball team hosted the Desert Mirage Rams in their sixth league match yesterday. Coach Darrell Sterling said varsity played to a five-set match. The Rams played hard and the Lady Trojans had to rally during the last two sets to win (25-27,16-25, 25-17, 25-17,15-8).
The junior varsity played their best, but lost in two sets (25-27,19-25).
Lady Trojans will host Twentynine Palms High School next Monday in their seventh league match.
Come out next Monday to watch and support your Lady Trojans play their cross-town rivals.
Coach Missy Bond said the Twentynine Palms High School volleyball Ladycats came out strong and beat Cathedral City in three sets (25-23, 25-22 and 26-24).
Leading the Ladycats was senior Alaina Thomas with 10 kills and three ace serves. Senior Lea Speer had seven kills, two ace serves, and one block. Freshman Meleane Taule had four kills. Juniors Jhordon Stanley and Riley King had three kills and King had three ace serves. Senior Gabby Mackall had one kill and 23 assists.
The Twentynine Palms High School varsity girls tennis team hosted the Golden Eagles of Desert Hot Springs Wednesday. Coach Bill Shay said the Ladycats won 16 to 2. The Ladycats are 2-and-0 in league and 4-and-1 overall.
In high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School girls’ tennis team will travel away to Desert Hot Springs.
And the Twentynine Palms High School tennis team will travel away to play Indio High School.
Both matches start at 3:15 p.m.
