The Twentynine Palms High School Wildcats track team hosted its first meet of the season against De Anza League foe Rancho Mirage Thursday. Coach Ronda Lockett-Morton said the team fell short to the Rattlers: varsity boys, 71-37, junior varsity boys, 68-36, and varsity girls 69-50, but had numerous outstanding individual performances.
Two event victors were: Mallory Hutchinson (high jump, long jump); Jayla Hogan (100 meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles); Amanda Mohn (shot put and discus);, Shania Newby (100 and 200 meters), Chris Pacheco (junior varsity triple jump and junior varsity 100 meters); and Tucker Thornburg (1600 meters and 3200 meters).
In high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School baseball team will host Coachella Valley High School at home. First pitch is at 3:30 p.m. The Yucca Valley High School softball game against Coachella Valley that was originally scheduled for March 22 has been changed to today, starting at 3:30 p.m. Also today, the Trojan tennis team will host Desert Mirage High School at home, starting at 3:15 p.m.
The Twentynine Palms High School baseball and softball teams will travel away to Big Bear today. First pitch for both games is at 3:15 p.m.
