The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team opened up the Redlands East Valley Invitational Tournament with a 79-39 victory over AB Miller High School of Fontana last night in Redlands. With the win, the Trojans evened their record to 3-3 on the season with a winners bracket game against Temescal Canyon next on the schedule. Tipoff is Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Redlands East Valley High School.

Coach Jess Geeson said the Trojan girls used a balanced attack as they stormed to a 40-19 halftime lead against the Rebels. Senior Savannah Beasley was again impressive, scoring a game-high 19 points while dishing out five assists. Freshman Sara Mills continued to play well, knocking in 16 points; she was followed by junior Angie Reutgen, who added 14 points and four assists. Seniors Kiley Pitts and Zena Yakimow chipped in 11 and eight points respectively.
