The Yucca Valley High School girls’ varsity tennis team lost a heartbreaker to Big Bear High School. Coach Cindy Miller said the score was 9-9 tie and they lost in points, 65-69. The team is now 2-3 in league.
In singles, Katie Brattain went out in the first set due to illness. Elizabeth Anderson 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. In doubles, Savannah Beasley and Kloee Scaccianocee 6-1, 6-0, 6-0; April Bratcher and Mckenzi Monical 4-6,6-2, 6-0; Montana Rowe and Alyssa Snyder 1-6, 6-3, 7-5.
The Twentynine Palms High School Ladycat varsity tennis team faced the Rams of Desert Mirage Tuesday. Coach Bill Shay said the Ladycats came away with a decisive victory 16 to 2. The Ladycats improved their conference record to 4 and 1.
In singles action, the Ladycats were led by Alicia Gilchrist, Tamesha Jefferson, Shaelita Chestnu, Sharon Squyres, and Lynn Mezahernandez, who all won a set.
In doubles action, the Ladycats were led by the teams of Danny Morrissey/Alexis Soster and Emma Romano/Bell Crank, who won both of their sets, while the teams of Saniyah Solwazi/Rosalind Carrllo, Emily Stuckey/Sam Brookins, and Ethly Amaro/Ashley Cheeks all won one set.
Coming up in high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School girls’ tennis and volleyball teams will host Desert Mirage High School at home. Tennis is at 3:15; volleyball at 4:30 p.m.
