HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS

The Twentynine Palms High School Ladycat volleyball team traveled to Palm Springs to take on the Indians. Coach Missy Bond said the Ladycats started off slow, but showed the Indians what they are made of by coming back strong. While the Ladycats lost in three sets, Coach Bond said she was very impressed with their continued improvement every match.
Leading the Ladycats was senior Lindsey Scamman with five kills, five blocks and one assist. Senior Cheryl Jensen had three kills. Junior Gabby Mackall had two kills and seven assists. Junior Alaina Thomas had one ace serve and one kill. Senior Hope Culver had one ace serve and one kill. Breanna Collins played some fantastic defense.  
 
The Twentynine Palms High School Ladycat varsity tennis team also traveled to Palms Springs Tuesday to face the Indians. The Ladycats came home with a loss of 6 to 12. Coach Bill Shay said the Ladycats fought a hard battle against a tough team. The girls’ tennis team moves to 2 and 2 overall on the year.
 
The Ladycats were led by Alicia Gilchrist, who won two of her sets, while the team of Danny Morrissey/Alexis Soster won all three of their sets. The team of Trinity Bosch/Natlie Norton also won one of their sets. The Ladycats host San Jacinto on Thursday. 
 
Coming up in high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School girls’ tennis and volleyball teams will travel away to Indio to play the Indio High School Rajahs. Tennis starts at 3:15; volleyball at 4:30.
