HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS

The Twentynine Palms High School boys basketball team finished the Rancho Mirage Invitational with a third place finish after defeating Victor Valley High School, 69-59. Coach T.J. Stanford said All-Tournament recipients were Adam Bell and Abraham Bell along with Javier Soriano. This brings the ’Cats’ record to 4-1. 
 
The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team couldn’t put a stop to a hot-shooting third quarter by the Patriot High School Warriors from Riverside, and fell 62-45 in a first round game in the Big Daddy Classic tournament at Notre Dame High School in Riverside. Coach Jess Geeson said juniors Hannah Hovious and Savannah Beasley led the team with 10 points each, and senior Taylor Spitz added nine points. The loss sets their record at 3-2.
 
In high school sports, today, all three high schools will be playing basketball. The Yucca Valley High School boys’ basketball team will host Arrowhead Christian School at home, starting at 6 p.m.
The Twentynine Palms High School boys’ basketball will host Cathedral City High School at home, while the girls’ team will participate in the Rancho Verde Tournament in Palm Desert. The boys start at 6:30, the girls at 4:30. 
The Joshua Springs girls’ basketball team will host Lucerne Valley High School at home, while the boys will host Desert Mirage High School at home. The girls start at 5; the boys at 6:30. 
 
In soccer, the Yucca Valley High School girls’ soccer team will host West Shores High School from Salton City, at home. The match starts at 3 p.m.
The Twentynine Palms High School boys’ soccer team will host La Quinta High School at home, while the girls will travel away to play Palm Springs High School. Both games start at 5 p.m.
