The Yucca Valley High School varsity Trojans football team came away with an impressive Homecoming victory over Western Christian on Friday under the lights. The Trojans dominated with a final score of 85-0 with Elijah Lynch starting as quarterback and Jake Moore finishing. This win improved their record to an undefeated 4-0. Coach Andrew Amosa would like to give a shout out to the student section for being loud and awesome throughout the whole game.
The junior varsity Trojan team lost 53-6 against the Bears from Big Bear. The junior varsity is now 3-1.
The Twentynine Palms High School Wildcats football team defeated Indian Springs, 42-0. Hugh Carpenter led the Wildcats, as the senior quarterback tossed four touchdown passes and ran another in for five touchdowns for the contest. Junior D’Shaun Barrett and senior Derek Sutherland had outstanding games. The Wildcats’ defense held the home team scoreless for their third defensive shutout in four games. Seniors Caleb Roy and Michael Clark both forced fumbles. The Wildcats offensive line averaged nearly 10 yards per play on the game. The Wildcats are now 3-1 on the season.
The Wildcats frosh-soph team had their fourth victory of the season with a 40-6 win over Indian Springs.
Joshua Springs varsity football faced Lancaster Baptist team Friday night. The Lightning ground game helped the home team earn a 48-8 victory.
In Twentynine Palms High School cross-country, junior Wildcat Vanessa Walton won her second varsity cross country title at the Grant Nunnally Invitational Saturday at Moreno Valley College and sophomore Dillan Plummer sprinted to third in the boys’ varsity race to lead the Wildcats team for the first time. Coach Chad Walton said freshman Taylor Scammon finished fourth in girls’ varsity, freshman Reese Allen finished second in girls’ JV race, and freshman Tucker Thornburg finished fifth in the boys’ frosh/soph race. The girls’ team raced to third place in the team standings.
In high school sports tomorrow, the Joshua Springs Christian School Lightning volleyball team will host Desert Chapel from Palm Springs. The match starts at 5 p.m.
