The Yucca Valley High School girls’ varsity volleyball team Monday beat Cathedral City 15-3. The team is now 2-1 in the preseason. Coach Cindy Miller said it was a great preseason for the girls and everyone has improved since the start of the season. She is looking forward to a great season as they start league games September 21 at home at 3:15 against Twentynine Palms.
In singles, Carrie Scofield 6-0, 6-0, 6-0; Katie Brattain 6-0, 6-0, 6-0; Ashley Heveron 6-3, 6-3, 2-6.

Coming up in high school sports today, the Joshua Springs Christian Lighting volleyball team will travel away to Nuevo to play Nuview Bridge High School, starting at 5:30 p.m.
And in high school sports tomorrow, the Lightning volleyball team will travel to Redlands to play Redlands Adventist Academy. That match also starts at 5:30 p.m.
