High Desert Beekeepers Association will hold its first meeting of 2020 this Saturday, (January 25), from noon until 2 p.m. at The Nourishing Tree, 62057 Twentynine Palms Highway in Joshua Tree.
Discussion will include beekeeping goals for the new year. Those who want to learn beekeeping, raise more bees, produce more honey, harvest wax, learn to capture a swarm, or do a removal, can begin learning at this meeting. Attendees will participate in doing a hive check and be shown how to feed bees if they have run out of pollen and honey. Those wishing to participate in the hive inspection are asked to bring their bee suit to participate in hive inspections following the meeting. Those who do not have a bee suit who want to participate in the hive inspection, should call or text high Desert Beekeepers Association president Michael Shamhart at 760-401-3030 to see if an additional suit is available for use, or for more information.
