An argument over hiding alcohol resulted in the arrest of a Joshua Tree man, accused of choking a woman. Deputies were called to the 62200 block of Verbena Avenue in Joshua Tree about 12:30 a.m. A woman was throwing items in the kitchen. The woman told deputies that Thomas Griffin, 49, was angry because she hid his alcohol, and punched her in the face. When she tried to reconcile with him and he refused her offer, she became angry, at which time, she said he threw her to the ground and choked her. Thomas Griffin was arrested for investigation of felony spouse abuse, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $50,000.
