The Hi-Desert Water District will meet in regular session tonight. Managing Editor Tami Roleff says the board will decide if a county fee for sewer payments will be passed on…
At tonight’s meeting of the Hi-Desert Water District’s board of directors, the directors will vote on placing a fee on some Yucca Valley property owners who wish to prepay their sewer assessments. Following the approval of the sewer assessment district last year, 87 property owners opted to make full or partial payments toward their sewer assessments, instead of spreading out the assessment over 30 years on their property taxes. The county charges the water district $21 for every payment made on the tax lien. During its meeting tonight, directors will discuss passing the $21 fee on to those property owners who are making payments in advance. The board will then approve a resolution applauding efforts by the town of Yucca Valley to reduce the costs of the sewer project for residents through a potential sales tax measure The meeting starts at 6:00 at the Hi-Desert Water District office at Inca Trail and the highway in Yucca Valley.
