HI-DESERT WATER TAKES STRONG STEPS AGAINST EARLY SEWER HOOK-UPS

The board of directors of the Hi-Desert Water District held a regular meeting last night and customers in the District who hook up to the sewer system before their scheduled time will pay some hefty fines. Assignment reporter Keith Bailey gives us the details on the meeting…

At last night’s meeting of the Board of Directors for the Hi-Desert Water District, the Directors voted to adopt an ordinance that prohibits sewer customers from connecting to the new sewer line prior to a date supplied in writing to the customer by the water district. Customers who connect to the sewer line early will be fined–$250 for the first day, and $500 for each subsequent day prior to their established connection date. This is to ensure that private sewer connections aren’t hooked up before the main sewer line is ready to receive flow. The Board members also conducted a closed session with legal counsel that lasted two hours returning with no reportable information.
