At last night’s meeting of the Hi-Desert Water District board of directors, the members heard a detailed report from the Matich Corporation about how adding curbs and gutters will extend the life span of the freshly constructed roads planned in the phase 1 portion wastewater project. Directors also authorized the general manager to enter a joint funding agreement with United States Geological Survey to monitor both the drinking water and the reclaimed wastewater recharge in Yucca Valley. The agreement is for fiscal year 2019-20 and is expected to cost $365,000. The board also approved a bid for $53,361.13 from the Layne Christensen Company to make necessary repairs to Well 24 and to perform its start up. They also approved multiple change orders for the wastewater project. The running total for change orders as of May 21, 2019 is $2.6 million.
