HI-DESERT WATER SETS SEWER FEES, CONTRACT “SLIPS THROUGH THE CRACKS”

At last night’s meeting of the Hi-Desert Water District Board of Directors, the directors voted to increase the monthly sewer service fees for single family homes from the projected $36 to $41.50, with a 3 percent increase every year.

In other business, with general manager Ed Muzik being placed on administrative leave, the contract with Webb Municipal for administrative work for the assessment district slipped through the cracks, resulting in $20,000 worth of unapproved work. The board members agreed to pay the $16,000 for the work that had been authorized in the district’s contract, and requested a representative from the company to attend the district’s next meeting to explain the $20,000 increase in billing.
