At its October 10, board meeting, Hi-Desert Water District Board of Directors authorized a loan program to help low-income Yucca Valley residents pay for their sewer assessment. Managing editor Tami Roleff elaborates…
In an effort to further lower the reduced annual assessment payments for property owners, Hi-Desert Water District is offering a loan to help low-
income residents pay their sewer assessment. To be eligible, residents must own and live in a single family home in Phase 1, and have a household income of $25,000 or less. This program will give about 1000 property owners the option to receive a loan against their property of up to $200 a year for 10 years to help pay yearly assessment payments. The loan will accrue an interest of 1 percent; that will help keep the loan revolving for additional applicants in the future. The loan will be paid off once the property is sold or if a transfer of ownership occurs.
