Starting this year, sewer assessment payments will be reflected on Yucca Valley residents’ 2018/2019 property tax bills. For a single-family home, the estimated assessment payment is $706.50 a year, but with sales tax revenue from the Town of Yucca Valley’s Measure Z and prepayments collected, this year’s payment amount will be closer to $350. In the first of a two-part story, managing editor Tami Roleff elaborates on a loan program to help property owners pay their annual sewer assessment…
Beginning in July 2019, Yucca Valley property owners located in Phase 1 will start to connect their homes and businesses to the centralized sewer system via a private property connection line. Property owners will be responsible for the costs of installing connection pipes and abandoning their septic tanks and wastewater package systems. To assist property owners with these costs, the Hi-Desert Water District has applied for a low-interest, 30-year loan with the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, and is asking for an $8 million grant to help lower the cost burden to property owners. The Hi-Desert Water District is offering a loan program to help property owners connect to the sewer system. If property owners choose this loan option, they will be required to voluntarily lien their property to secure the loan. Then they’ll be provided a list of interested contractors to complete the construction work. More information about the Phase 1 Sewer Assessment can be found at
