The Hi-Desert Water District board of directors will learn about legislation to combat and mitigate climate change, and a project to improve the aging water supply infrastructure at its meeting tonight. Managing editor Tami Roleff fills in the details of tonight’s meeting…

The Hi-Desert Water District Board of Directors will be given a Power Point presentation tonight on state legislation that will mitigate climate change through reducing greenhouse gases, and how those efforts are driving improvements in energy efficiency, increasing the use of renewable energy, and reducing organic wastes. The board will also hear an update on the California WaterFix plan which will change how water is diverted from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. The proposal would build three new water intakes with fish screens and two tunnels that will replace portions of the California aqueduct. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. in district offices at Inca Trail and Highway 62 in Yucca Valley.
