A public hearing on Water Standby Assessments was held last night by the Hi- Desert Water District Board Directors. Assignment reporter Keith Bailey was in attendance and files this report…
At last night’s meeting of the Hi-Desert Water District board of directors, the directors voted to keep the annual standby fees for water the same as last year—either $4 or $20 for the first 2.5 acres of a vacant lot—up to $1000–depending on the distance from a water district pipeline. The President and the Directors felt comfortable adopting the resolution because it has been the standard for 30 years. The board also approved a contract for a salary and benefits survey, to ensure the water district remains competitive with other employers. The last salary and benefits survey was conducted in 2007. The Board also voted to authorize an agreement with Caselle Government Accounting Software for $80,000 to replace the current District’s billing and accounting software.
