HI-DESERT WATER DISTRICT TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING TONIGHT ON SEWER ASSESSMENT CHANGES

The Hi-Desert Water District will hold a special meeting tonight for a public hearing on sewer assessment fees for Yucca Valley property owners. Reporter Keith Bailey explains…

Five years ago, Yucca Valley voters approved forming an assessment district for the new sewer project. The fees for individual properties are based on the type of property: single family homes have a different assessment than vacant property, as do mobile homes, apartments, and businesses. Since the assessment districts were formed, the usage of some of the properties have changed—for example, some vacant lots have been either subdivided or have been developed. The Hi-Desert Water District board of directors have identified these properties and will meet tonight to hold a special hearing during which they will approve a resolution to change the assessment on those properties whose usage has changed. The meeting starts at 5 p.m. in district offices at Inca Trail and Highway 62 in Yucca Valley.
