The Board of Directors of the Hi-Desert Water District adopted a resolution at its last meeting to support Proposition 3, the Water Supply and Water Quality Act of 2018, which goes before voters November 6. If approved, this California water bond will provide additional grant funding opportunities to help lower the cost of the Yucca Valley sewer project. If Prop 3 is approved, $8.877 billion in general obligation bonds would be available for water-related infrastructure and environmental projects, of which $750 million is earmarked for safe drinking water and safe disposal of wastewater for disadvantaged communities such as Yucca Valley. Currently, there are very limited grant funding opportunities available to help lower the cost burden of the project for property owners and customers.
