The Hi-Desert Water District Board of Directors has finalized state financing for Yucca Valley residents who need financial assistance to connect to the sewer project. The district has secured a $45.2 million low-interest loan and $16 million in grants to help local residents. Here’s assignment reporter Keith Bailey with the rest of the story…
On April 9, the Hi-Desert Water District Board of Directors and the California State Revolving Fund finalized a state grant and low- interest loan. The grant and loan are designed to assist property owners with the cost of connecting to the new sewer system. The 30-year loan will be at 1.8 percent and will help finance the Phase 1 portion of the Wastewater Project. More than 400 properties in the Western Hills Ranchos area, near Monterey Business Center, will be the first to connect to the system, beginning September 1. The District’s agreement with the state includes $16 million in grants which will be applied once all loans to participating property owners have been executed. The District will send notifications to property owners with details on the loan application process and how to obtain grant funding.
