Hi-Desert Water District General Manager Ed Muzik will be stepping down in January 2021, and the recruitment process for his replacement by the Board of Directors has commenced. Reporter Joshua King has the story.
Beginning as the District’s Chief Financial Officer in 2002, Muzik was eventually appointed to the position of General Manager following a national recruitment search by the board. Board President Roger Mayes said, “Ed has demonstrated great leadership in carrying out the agency’s mission and directives from the Board which will make our job in finding a replacement even more difficult.”
The General Manager reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the total operation of the Hi-Desert Water District; providing leadership and management of the District’s public policies and strategic initiatives, and all administrative, operational, and financial activities for the District.
As the District’s Board of Directors begins the search for the ideal candidate, public sector management experience and superior communication and interpersonal skills will be key discussions.
The job announcement will be posted on the District’s website in the next several weeks. With Muzik’s retirement date still months away, he will remain through the transition.
