Last night, the Hi-Desert Water District held its board meeting. Reporter Joshua King has details on what they went over…
Last night’s Hi-Desert Water District board of directors meeting started with the approval of future assessment credit to the Sage Estates in the amount of $2969.80 per lot. The initial cost of sewer implementation for the Sage Estates totaled $317,769.10, and the board approved this assessment credit to reflect the framework of the district adjusting future assessments when private wastewater facilities are transferred to the district.
After this, the board voted to approve an update to its purchasing policy, and while this was more of a housekeeping item, some significant changes were approved, such as the removal of Sarann Graham as a signatory following her resignation from the board last month.
Finally, the board then voted to approve a resolution that updated a policy for non-residential sewer leaks. Non-residential customers include commercial, public entities, irrigation, multi-family, and parks. If a non-residential customer has an outside leak, where the leak is not going directly to the plant, a 100 percent one-time credit adjustment on the increased sewer fees will be provided by the district. If a non-residential customer has an inside leak, where the leak is going directly to the treatment plant, a 50 percent one-time credit adjustment on the increased sewer fees will be provided by the district.
