The Hi-Desert Water District learned that it was awarded a $7.2 million grant through the Mojave Water Agency that it will use to replace water mains. The grant was awarded by the Department of Water Resource’s Integrated Regional Water Management, and was part of $221 million awarded to 27 projects, whose total costs were in excess of $780 million. Water District Board member Sarann Graham said the funds will be used to replace 100,000 feet of old and leaking water mains in Phase 1 of the sewer project prior to the construction of the sewer project.
