A decision on whether to pass County process fees on the customers paying sewer assessment fees was postponed at last night’s meeting of the Hi-Desert Water District Board. Managing Editor Tami Roleff was at that meeting and files this report…
The Hi-Desert Water District Board of Directors postponed action at its meeting Wednesday night on a proposal to pass on to its customers the cost of fees charged by the county for partial payments for the sewer assessment. General manager Ed Muzik told the directors the action needed a resolution, which was not on the agenda. The county charges the water district $21 to process a payment, and another $21 to change the amount of the lien on a property, so making a partial payment would add $42 in county fees, which the water district would then charge the customer. Board members agreed that if an assessment is paid in full or is paid off within a six-month time period, that customers would not be charged the county fees. The matter will come before the board again at its next meeting.
