The Hi-Desert Water District held its board meeting yesterday at 5 p.m. Reporter Joshua King has the details on the resolutions that were discussed…
The board began its meeting by updating a section of the District Municipal Code in accordance with CalPERS that states that employees who retired on and after January 1, 2011 will be required to enroll in Medicare Parts A and B at their earliest eligibility or relinquish their district-paid medical benefits upon retirement. Following that, a vote passed approving the District Employee Vehicle Use Indemnification Agreement, a document detailing the rights and protections of employees using district vehicles. Finally, an agenda item concerning wastewater employee hours was pulled on the spot as the matter had been resolved prior to the meeting. The final resolution discussed an agreement between the Hi-Desert Water District and Southwest Desert Telecomm. A one-year collaborative relationship was approved, with Southwest Desert Telecomm offering services such as communications consultation and radio operator certification in return for operating out of the Paxton Hill site owned by the Hi-Desert Water District.
