The Hi-Desert Nature Museum will host a zoom lecture Thursday (July 8) on Salton Sea pioneer Helen Burns. Ernest Figueroa has more on the event that highlights “The Queen of the Salton Sea”…
Donna Burns grew up on 500 acres of Salton Sea land owned by her grandfather. Her Mom, Helen Burns, began selling beverages and snacks out of a plywood shack in the 1950s and, within a decade, the business became an entertainment destination and Hellen became the unofficial leader of the community. Donna will present Hellen’s story in a free zoom lecture through the Hi-Desert Nature Museum titled “Salton Sea Life: Revisiting a Memorable Childhood with Mom.” The lecture will begin at 1 p.m. For more information or to sign up, visit the link below.
