The Hi-Desert Water District received its second consecutive District of Distinction accreditation last month from the Special District Leadership Foundation. The Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to recognizing public agencies that follow prudent fiscal practices. To qualify as a District of Distinction, the water district had to demonstrate an understanding and respect for the responsibilities inherent in providing essential public services, have clean financial audits, and its current and relevant policies must conform to all statutes and regulations under state law.
