After weeks of negotiation, the 4,300 healthcare workers at 11 Tenet Healthcare hospitals in California, including Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree, have reached a tentative settlement in contract negotiations that addresses pandemic safety, PPE, and other health protocols.
As the COVID-19 pandemic rages on, safety became an urgent priority for healthcare workers who face high risk in caring for patients. The agreement struck between Tenet management and SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West includes:
Comprehensive pandemic safety measures such as quarantine pay, worker support and lodging, and compliance with California Assembly Bill 2537 on PPE guidelines;
Three percent annual raises;
Raises to minimum pay rate of $19.50 per hour;
Continuation of healthcare and other benefits;
Increases to standby pay.
The SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West is one of the largest healthcare unions in the nation with 97,000 members.
