The Hi-Desert Medical Center has been recognized by Blue Shield of California with the Blue Distinction Award. The award is part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program and hospitals with the distinction have a proven history of delivering exceptional care and results with their patients. This award is specifically for HDMC’s maternity care for addressing key factors driving the United States’ maternal health crisis. Reporter Cassidy Taylor spoke with Briana Garrido, Perinatal Manager at Hi-Desert Medical Center, about the significance of this distinction…
“It definitely means that the work we’re doing here together, that we know we’re putting our heart into, is being recognized by the community.”
Briana Garrido, perinatal manager at Hi-Desert Medical Center, says that the center took many steps in order to receive this distinction.
“Being part of a collaboration between our staff, the people we work with outside in clinics…. to ensure that our patients are taken well care of. We identify high risk patients early in pregnancy, and that our staff are educated to identify high blood pressure patients, anybody that might be at risk to improve our maternal and fetal outcome.”
For the community, the Blue Distinction Award demonstrates how much the hospital cares.
“We are here to take care of them. We’re putting everything that we have into the patient care and the collaboration that we have with outside resources—the time, the dedication, the education, the certification that we have to make sure that you’re taken care of when you walk through our double doors.”
