HI-DESERT MEDICAL CENTER GETS GOLD SEAL ACCREDITATION

A surprise inspection of the Hi-Desert Medical Center has resulted in a top grade. Z107.7 reporter Mike Lipsitz says the local hospital got high marks…
Hi-Desert Medical Center has been re-accredited for meeting state-of-the-art national standards for health care quality and safety as determined by The Joint Commission, the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. The award, a Gold Seal of Approval™, comes in the wake of a surprise, on-site survey last September when a team of expert surveyors evaluated the District for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients, including infection prevention, medication management, patient care and environment, hospice and home care. District CEO Robert Tyk said that accreditation was sought in order to demonstrate (the District’s) commitment to patients’ and residents’ safety and quality care. The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with health care experts, providers, measurement experts and patients.

As we welcome Mike Lipsitz back, Z107.7 has made repeated attempts to contact Supervisor James Ramos and his staff regarding the firing of Mike Lipsitz as his Morongo Basin field representative. Ramos has not responded to any questions about why Lipsitz was fired instead of being placed on administrative leave, or why Sheriff John McMahon personally notified Ramos of the arrest. The District Attorney’s office has yet to file charges against Lipsitz.
