The Hi-Desert Medical Center Board of Directors meets in special session at 6 p.m. today. The board will consider approval of a single action item, that being approval of a policy that assures financial arrangements between the hospital and physicians referring patients there comply with the physician self-referral statute and federal anti-kickback statute. The policy was drafted some time ago, but was inadvertently not submitted for final board approval. Following that discussion and likely vote, directors will adjourn to closed session pursuant to real property negotiations with potential white knight, Tenet Healthcare. It all happens at the Helen Gray Education Center on the hospital campus.
