A Hesperia man with multiple out-of-county warrants for his arrest was arrested in Yucca Valley Wednesday. About noon on Wednesday, a deputy stopped a blue Volkswagen about noon near Yucca Mesa Road and Highway 62 for failure to display a rear license plate. A records check determined that the driver, Raymond Vargas, 40, had warrants for his arrest from Riverside and Orange Counties for identity theft, vehicle theft, reckless driving, and felony evading, and was on felony probation in Riverside County. During a search, deputies located methamphetamine packaged in individual baggies and a large amount of cash. Raymond Vargas was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for sales, and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000, with another $150,000 in bail for his arrest warrants.
