February is American Heart Month and today, February 5, is National Wear Red Day, to raise awareness about heart disease in women. Z107.7 wants to encourage you to be heart healthy. Reporter Cassidy Taylor says Dr. Edith Jones-Poland talks about ways to reduce your risk for heart disease and stroke…
Dr. Jones-Poland says a great start is knowing your numbers. That’s your blood pressure, weight, cholesterol and average blood sugar numbers.
“All of these [numbers] help to give you an overall picture of your health and to target measures that you can use to reduce these numbers or to bring them under control to reduce your personal risk of cardiovascular disease.”
If you are unsure of your numbers or have questions regarding your risk of heart disease and stroke, you can start a conversation with your doctor to begin your path to a heart-healthy life.
