The Morongo Basin Healthcare District is recruiting from among its patients of the Morongo Basin Community Health Center to serve on the Health Center’s governing board. For those interested, Reporter Eric Knabe has the details…
The Health Center is owned and operated by the Healthcare District, and receives federal funds to make primary healthcare accessible to underserved populations in the Basin. That funding requires an oversight governing board with 51 percent being patients of the Health Center and the remainder comprised of community members. Health Center patients are invited to complete an application to serve on this volunteer governing board. Applications are available at the multiple health center locations. The District’s Board of Directors will appoint the new board members during their regular business meeting in January. They will then meet in late January to organize and begin oversight of the Health Center operations.
