The Morongo Basin Healthcare District held a ribbon cutting for its mobile medical unit yesterday. The MMU will provide primary care, medical screening, and vaccinations for residents in remote areas, such as Yucca Mesa, Wonder Valley and Copper Mountain Mesa. On board there is a central registration area and two examination rooms, one with a lift for wheelchair access. There is also built in Wi-fi and media displays. The Twentynine Palms Band of Mission Indians is providing $175,000 over the next five years to help fund the operations and upkeep.
