HEALTHCARE DISTRICT HEARS FROM SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

The Morongo Basin Healthcare District board of directors met last night in regular session. Reporter Eric Knabe fill us in…
The meeting began with a presentation by Tom Baumgarten of the Morongo Unified School District. The presentation showed how the district‘s framework of a multi-tiered system of support is a major part of their mission to serve all the 8,600 students in the district. This was followed by the discussion of a memorial for Mara Cantelo. The tentative idea is having it in front of the new clinic on Split Rock Avenue in Twentynine Palms. This idea is still in early stage of development and much more discussion is to come. The report from CEO Jackie Combs was good news in that the healthcare district had been awarded two MBTA transportation grants in which they will purchase a new van with the capabilities to provide four ambulatory seats and two wheelchair and will be part of the LIFT Transportation Service.
