Last night’s Morongo Basin Healthcare District Board of Directors’ regular meeting began with an overview from CEO Jackie Combs on the Maternal Health Network strategic plan. Combs provided a presentation covering the collective groups and stakeholders working together to develop a vision and a plan to address complex issues facing maternal health issues for people in the Morongo Basin. The first business established the Network’s mission, which is “The Maternal Health Network of San Bernardino County empowered, respects and supports families before, during and after pregnancy for optimized health and well-being of moms and babies.” The extensive work covered all aspects of support, from information, education, healthcare, and much more.

Director Misty Evans reported on the recent Adult Congenital Heart Association Conference. In a detailed report, Controller Debbie Anderson said that the overall, year-to-date income after allocation had done better than budgeted expectations.

Combs also addressed the coronavirus, providing details that will be posted on the district’s website. The CDC and San Bernardino County Health are reliable resources. 

Director Marge Doyle said, “Our district continues to do the work of the people who elected us to provide health care and information about health care to make our citizens and people in our valley more healthy.” She continued, referring to the virus, “We want people to be informed and to take reasonable precautions but not be fearful. It is an illness that can be managed, and although it is infectious, good hand washing and all of the things that are in these [website] resources can help people remain healthy.
