The Morongo Basin Healthcare District Board of Directors met in a special closed meeting last night.
No reporter was there as the meeting was classified as closed for “Trade Secrets.” After the meeting, the District issued a press release from President Bob Armstrong. “The Board of Directors remain[s] committed to accessible healthcare in the Morongo Basin. We have directed Staff to pursue two business models that will provide maximum opportunity for growth and long-term stability.” The release also said, “The Board has agreed to maintain the federally qualified healthcare center model currently in place at the District’s Morongo Basin Community Health Center.
Additionally, the Board of Directors directed Staff to pursue a Rural Health Clinic (RHC) model to enhance the healthcare provided in our communities and to explore future service lines under the RHC model, including the development of an immediate-care facility, occupational health services, and to bring the District’s new Mobile Medical Unit on line.”
