HEALTH DEPARTMENT CLOSES COPPER MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY CENTER KITCHEN

The County Health Department has closed the kitchen at the Copper Mountain Community Center. On August 13, a field consultation was conducted regarding the shared operation of the kitchen at Copper mountain Community center in Joshua Tree by the group “Jazzed Up Classics.” Health inspectors cited old and fresh rodent droppings in the food preparation area under a sink and throughout a storage area. They also cited several kitchen food storage and preparation areas out of compliance. The facility was ordered to submit plans to accommodate shared kitchen operations. They were then ordered to be temporarily closed due to a vermin infestation. The County gave the Community Center 15 days to request a hearing to show cause why their permit to operate a public eating place should not be suspended or revoked.
