UPDATED 9:30 a.m. with additional information about the crash.
A man suffered multiple broken bones in a head-one crash in Twentynine Palms Thursday. According to Twentynine Palms Fire Captain Durk Carlyle, the collision between a motorcycle and car happened about 5 p.m. on Two Mile Road and Datura Avenue. The Sheriff’s Department said the driver of the car was traveling eastbound on Two Mile Road and attempted to make a left-hand turn into a private driveway. The driver did not see the motorcycle, which was traveling westbound on Two Mile Road, and the two vehicles collided head on. The motorcycle rider was awake and alert when firefighters arrived; it appeared he may have suffered a broken leg and possible broken ankle. The man was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center and then airlifted to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs.
