HABITUAL CRIMINALS ARRESTED AGAIN IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

Three people—including two who have a long history with law enforcement—were arrested early Tuesday morning after they were found with stolen credit cards, checks, and mail. According to a Sheriff’s report, Deputy G. Jimenez stopped a vehicle about 2 a.m. near the intersection of Sullivan Road and Yucca Avenue in Twentynine Palms. Inside were Amy Bustamante, 29, Krystle Edwards, 30, and Brandon Hibler, 29. Hibler is on parole and Edwards is on probation with a no-bail warrant for her arrest. During a probation compliance check of Edwards, deputies found credit cards in Edwards’ possession with 14 different names on them. Deputies went to a local motel where Edwards and Hibler were staying and found additional credit cards and stolen mail. Krystle Edwards and Brandon Hibler were arrested on and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with Edwards and Hibler being held on no-bail warrants. Amy Bustamante was arrested on suspicion of identity theft, as additional credit cards and stolen checks were found in her possession. She is being held on $50,000 bail. Krystle Edwards has convictions for theft, robbery, burglary, assault, possession of stolen property, and willful cruelty to a child resulting in injury or death. Brandon Hibler also has an extensive criminal history, including an acquittal for murder and arrests for burglary, robbery, petty theft, false imprisonment, assault, carrying a concealed weapon, and false impersonation.
