A Yucca Valley man is behind bars—again—after he started a fight with a store owner Tuesday night. About 7:45 Jacob Roa, 24, who was drunk, was at a smoke shop in the 57000 block of 29 Palms Highway when he started fighting with several people inside the store. According to a Sheriff’s report, witnesses who called 911 told dispatchers that people were threatening to get a jack handle and a gun to protect themselves from Roa. When deputies arrived, Roa also tried to fight the deputies, and then fled. The deputies caught Jacob Roa and arrested him for investigation of battery and resisting arrest with great bodily injury. Roa was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $10,000, although deputies have filed paperwork in an attempt to keep Roa in jail until his court date due to his habitual run-ins with the law. Last month, Roa was convicted of two counts of battery for attacking an 83-year-old man who was watching a softball game at the Yucca Valley Community Center and the police officer who tried to arrest Roa. In March, Roa was convicted of being drunk in public after he tried to steal an iPod from a 15-year-old boy and then pulled a 6-inch knife on the boy’s father at the Community Center.
