GUNFIRE BRINGS DEPUTIES TO A MORONGO VALLEY HOME

A Morongo Valley man was arrested Wednesday, accused of threatening to kill his roommate and shooting a gun. According to Sheriff’s Deputy Jennifer Burkhart, about 7:30 Wednesday night, George Lancaster, 58, of the 11100 block of Trail Way in Morongo Valley, said his roommate had pointed something at him; he thought perhaps it was a gun. So Lancaster retrieved his gun, walked outside, and fired a few rounds toward his neighbors’ houses to let his roommate know that he also had a gun.

Lancaster then called 911 to report the incident, and said that if the issue wasn’t resolved soon, he was going “to kick his [roommate’s] ass.” The deputy said that Lancaster also threatened to kill his roommate, and that the incident was witnessed by a woman. After an investigation, George Lancaster was arrested on suspicion of shooting at an inhabited dwelling and making criminal threats. Lancaster was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $250,000.
