Gun fired at King of Hammers leads to arrest of Huntington Beach man

A Huntington Beach man was arrested at a King of the Hammers camp area on suspicion of firing a gun into the air.

On Friday (February 7) just before 9:00 p.m., witnesses said that a man near the “Turkey Claw” campsite in Johnson Valley fired a pistol directly into the air. The suspect was identified as Gavin Osterhoudt, a 25 year-old resident of Huntington Beach. Bureau of Land Management Rangers were flagged down and requested assistance from San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies.

Witnesses told deputies that Osterhoudt did not directly threaten anyone at the scene. Deputies arrested Osterhoudt at the scene, and recovered one fired cartridge, along with the pistol and additional ammunition.

Gavin Osterhoudt was arrested on suspicion of willfully discharging a firearm with gross negligence and has since been released on bail.
