GROUND BREAKING FOR MOJAVE WATER AGENCY DEEP CREEK HYDROELECTRIC PROJECT

The plans for the Mojave Water Agency’s new hydroelectric station have been in the works for years, and finally, the MWA broke ground on the project Thursday. The Deep Creek Hydroelectric Project is a $4.3 million project that is expected to generate 820 kilowatts of clean energy while importing water from the California Aqueduct to the groundwater basin in the Victor Valley area. It is slated for completion in spring 2019. The hydroelectric energy station is expected to save the water agency millions of dollars over 30 years.
